Introduction: In this article, we will further explore the new requirements imposed by the AIGC era on new data centers and the solutions that Chayora develops in response.
Ingenuity - Enablers to Meet the Needs in AIGC Era
As a driving force of data center infrastructure, AIGC has ushered in a new era of massive computing power, which imposes a higher requirements for the infrastructure. Chayora has realized that the data center must advance with the times in order to meet the latest demands of customers in this new era. To cater to market demands, Chayora has conducted extensive market researches and product-market-fit work. For example, the Ingenuity high-density data center solutions, the latest product it launches, is a result of these work.
Chayora has learned that high-density cabinet power is the core demand of the market according to its close interaction with customers and the market. Whether it is for application development or computing power lease, the traditional 2.5KW-4KW single cabinet has fallen short of demands in the AIGC market. Instead, 20KW-40KW single cabinet has emerged as the mainstream. According to the White Paper on the Development of China’s Data Center (2023), the power density of single cabinet has increased from 3KW to 30 KW or even higher up to now. Ingenuity high-density data center solutions are capable of delivering up to 40 KW for each cabinet, and may fully meet the current market demands for high-density cabinet. For example, Chayora has a data center campus in Tianjin that serves the markets in Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei. This campus adopts a design in line with the configuration requirements for high-density cabinets, and is able to fulfill the demands of both upstream and downstream enterprises along the data center industry chain for cabinet power density.
Meanwhile, the new work modes emerged as a result of large model training and inference in the AIGC era is also a significant challenge to the hardware of data centers. Compared to inference, the large model training is of single task, which requires more complicated infrastructure support of larger scale. While the inferencing usually adopts a work mode of multiple distributed tasks, which is more sensitive to latency, therefore, the distance to customers’ premises shall be considered when selecting the location of the data center. In addition, the computer room will also need more space with the constant increase of user terminals. Therefore, it is also necessary to consider whether it is feasible for the desired site to expand in the future. For the different work modes with large model training and inference, Ingenuity is powerful and flexible enough to support various types of data computing and storage.
Flexible Solutions to Meet Customization Demands
As the demand for high power cabinet increases, the liquid cooling technology, well-known for its advantages in energy saving, has also received wide attention in this technology change, and is utilized to reduce the energy consumption caused by heat dissipation. Chayora has realized a long time ago that the heat dissipation problem cannot be solved solely through air cooling technology. Therefore, Chayora has adopted air- and liquid cooling technologies in the design of data center infrastructure. This flexible mixed cooling solution has enabled Chayora to provide efficient heat dissipation solutions for cabinets of different power densities at the data center.
The power supply configuration at the data center is also influenced in the AIGC era. Enabled by the Checkpoint technology, the training model may be recovered in the case of unexpected disruption or breakdown of deep learning. For this reason, backup power supply is no longer a necessity, and the traditional 2N redundant electrical system is no longer the best choice. The strong compatibility of Ingenuity solutions may play an important role in this aspect. Again, for Chayora’s data center campus in Tianjin, its engineering construction is divided into two phases, i.e. civil engineering and electromechanical engineering. Taking all possibilities of various electromechanical solutions into account, the civil engineering design may support customized design for the electromechanical part. For example, if the customer has no special requirement on power backup, Chayora may reduce the configuration of UPS or diesel generators according to the customer’s demand, and adopt a more flexible power supply mode of N + 1.
Intelligent Management Increasing Operation Efficiency
Higher cabinet density, flexible power supply configuration and application of air- and liquid cooling solutions also imposed higher requirement on the operation and maintenance of data centers.
In response, Chayora keeps close cooperation with customers throughout the whole process from design, construction to operation, and provides them with a series of configuration options based on their needs. These measures have enabled Chayora to provide customers with high-quality data center solutions in a flexible and fast manner. So Chayora and customers can jointly complete the full life cycle construction of data centers, and ensure the process complies with the internationally authoritative certification standard of Uptime Institute.
It is worth mentioning that the 360° Centralized Management System developed by Chayora may perform active monitoring of data center operation through intelligent management, achieving an increase of operation efficiency by 15%. At the recently held 11th Data Center Standards Conference, this management system has been granted the Data Center Technology Achievement Award issued by China Association for Engineering Construction Standardization and approved by National Office for Science & Technology Awards of Ministry of Science and Technology. This has reflected that the products and services of Chayora are highly recognized by the industry and customers in China.
In future, Chayora will continue to optimize this solution in line with the development trends of AIGC, and provide customers with the latest built-to-suit solution with their demands. In the next article, Chayora will discuss how data centers will evolve against the revolutionary impact imposed by AIGC on the industry. Please follow us to get the latest information.
