Facilities Design and Engineering Expert Appointed to Leadership Role as Company’s Tianjin Hyperscale Data Centre Campus Targets Live Operations by Close of 2018
Hong Kong, 22 June 2018 — Chayora Limited, a Hong Kong-based data centre infrastructure company, announces today the appointment of Harry Shen as its new Technical Manager. Mr. Shen has more than a decade of experience in data centre and critical facilities design and engineering, including multiple projects serving global data centre and multinational enterprise clients throughout China.
In his new role as Technical Manager, Mr. Shen will work with Mike West, Chayora’s Head of Engineering, and will coordinate the International Standards which Chayora insist upon to align with the best practices in China. He will continue to ensure that the technical designs of Chayora’s data centres always meet or exceed customer requirements, as well as ensure the quality of technical solutions while providing oversight of technical procurement in China. He will also select and manage project consultants, and coordinate and collaborate with key project stakeholders. The appointment of Mr. Shen comes as Chayora continues to develop its new Beichen, Tianjin hyperscale data centre campus which the company projects will commence live operations by the close of 2018. The 300MW, 32-hectare / 80-acre campus will serve the greater Beijing region that is home to more than 150 million people in the JingJinJi mega-metropolitan area of northern China.

Prior to joining Chayora, Mr. Shen was an Associate at DSCO Group, a leading building services engineering consultancy in the Asia-Pacific, where he led operations of the company’s Shanghai office and was responsible for business development. While Project Manager at DSCO Group, he provided leadership of mechanical and electrical engineering teams for a great number of major data centre projects across China, including the Citibank data centre in Guangzhou, and the Centrin Kunshan data centre campus and Equinix SH5 and SH6 data centres in Shanghai.
Mr. Shen began his career as an electrical engineer at China Unicom. He is an Uptime Institute accredited Tier Designer and holds Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute as well LEED AP Building Design + Construction (LEED AP BD+C) credentials from the U.S. Green Building Council. Mr. Shen is a graduate of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University where he earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree, specialising in electrical and automation engineering.

Chayora will host a “Superstructure Launch Ceremony” at its new Tianjin hyperscale data centre campus on Tuesday, 26 June 2018. The ceremony will include a campus tour and a series of presentations on the region and the construction project itself, as well as an update on Chayora’s next milestones towards live operations by year’s end.
